For your consideration is this incredible example of a vintage, single family owned 1961 Omega Speedmaster ref: CK2998-3. Serial: 17.76X.XXX
Brief history:
This watch was aqcuired from the grandson of the original owner. The original owner was a former US Army pilot, and a former CIA agent. A copy of the original owner's published autobiography will be included with the watch.
Condition report:
Dial: Original Pre-Professional Radium dial in pristine condition. The dial surface is clean and free of scratches.
The original Radium lume is in fantastic shape and has developed amazing patina.
The lume plots are in near mint shape showing no signs of deterioration.
Hands: Original Radium hour & minute hands in excellent shape.
Case: Sharp Symmetrical straight lug case. This watch has never been polished.
The lugs are thick and crisp, and though somewhat "sleeve-worn", the original factory brushed finish can be seen on the sides of the case, especially between the crown and the pushers.
The caseback is sharp and free of extensive scarring.
Crown & pushers: Original "Flat-foot" crown. Original pushers.
Bezel: Original "DON" (Dot Over Ninety) TACHYMETRE bezel in excellent condition. The bezel has faded to an amazing Green hue. The bezel shows some wear as shown in pictures, but overall in excellent shape.
Bracelet: Original 7912 dated to the 3rd quarter of 1961 with single notch #6 end links.
The bracelet is unpolished and fully linked. All spring links are working. Bracelet shows some stretch. Original spring bars.
Movement: Omega Cal 321. Running well and keeps good time. All chrono functions work as they should. Last serviced in 2006.
Accessories: Omega Extract Of The Archives shows production date of Spetember 8, 1961 and delivery to the US.
Notes: Beautiful and honest examples of any CK2998 are becoming extremely difficult to find. Not to mention ones from original ownership with full provenance.
